“The Mayor of Winchester Gates” by Todd Lincoln Richards - IHIBRP 5-Star Book Review

Ghostly Humor & Hijinx Leads To Great Revelations About A Town And It’s Inhabitants!

Overview: Gilbert Anderson gets much more than he bargained for when he takes a shortcut through the town cemetery one night and happens to meet a local resident.

Todd Lincoln Richards’ characters are quite diverse and easily engaging in “The Mayor of Winchester Gates”, especially his main protagonist, 16-year-old Gilbert, an energetic young man who is popular at school—although he’s not exempt from a bit of teasing now and again—and always has one eye on the present and the other on the future. And so, it seems quite apropos when he literally crashes into a situation that demands his attention now be focused on the past.

With curious teenagers just itching to meet their deceased neighbors and delve into their town’s past, the author strikes an excellent balance in the telling of this tale through ghostly humor and hi-jinx as he leads readers down a path lined with dark deeds, family turmoil, and unrequited love. Richards provides plenty of thrills and chills as he leads Gilbert on an eye-opening journey into small town history that should reconcile past events, amend present day issues, and lead to a brighter future for all concerned.

Although “The Mayor of Winchester Gates” is classified as a Children’s story on Amazon, I would recommend this remarkably funny and endearing tale in the horror category for ages 9 and up. I also feel that adults will enjoy this coning-of-age story just as much as the younger generations since its content appeals to anyone fascinated by small-town culture and history, adolescent issues, and—of course—friendly ghosts and the hereafter.

Congratulations to the author on this award-winning story! This novel will be permanently featured on my website at AuthorJBRichards.com under IHIBRP 5 Star Recommended Reads!
